Image and Video Sharing
for Student Portfolios, Online Discussion
 and Collaboration

Flickr
Use Flicker's photo management system to share photos and discussion boards.   Groups can either be public, public (invite only) or completely private.
(acquired by Yahoo in 2005)

Flipagram
Create short video stories made of selected photographs.  Add music or a narration and send it via email or text or post it on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc..   Copy the embed code and post it on your website.

Instagram
Share photos with friends and family.  If you have an Instagram account and an app on your phone, you can take a photo, apply filters to it and share either to public Instagram boards or as a private post. Once you make your posts private, people who have Instagram accounts will have to send you a request to "follow" you if they want to see your posts, your followers list or the list of those you are following.. You'll see requests in your news feed, which you can then approve or ignore.   Viewers can comment.
SmugMug
Share, store and sell your photos  SmugMug gives you three different types of privacy options that you can apply to any Gallery, Page, or Folder on your site. They are:
  1. Only Me (Private)
  2. Everyone (Public)
  3. Anyone with the Link (Unlisted)
SyncSpace   By Infinitekind.com
is a creative, collaborative space.  Invite others to share your space and contribute to your drawings either over time or simultaneously.

Vimeo
Edit, enhance and even add copyright to your videos on Vimeo.  Vimeo then  makes your Vimeos (videos) accessible to people you follow on Vimeo or only visible to people you choose, but everyone has to have a Vimeo account
.  Viewers can comment.

Vine
Create and post  short looping video clips with a maximum clip length of six seconds and share these with Vine's social network, or to other services such as Twitter - which acquired the app in October 2012.  You can now change Vine Video settings so that only your  approved Vine account followers can see and comment on your videos,  (Acquired by Twitter in 2014)
